Groundbreaking Commemorates Gwinnett’s New Home of the Braves

Ballpark for Gwinnett Braves honored with official groundbreaking ceremony

June 3, 2008 (Buford, GA) – The Gwinnett Convention and Visitors Bureau today hosted a
groundbreaking ceremony commemorating the start of construction on the ballpark for the
Triple-A Gwinnett Braves baseball team.  Construction is to be complete in time for opening day
in April, 2009.

“Today marks a memorable occasion for the Braves organization and Gwinnett County.  It is our
hope and expectation that many more significant events will take place on these grounds,” said
Braves President John Schuerholz.  “This world class ballpark will be an impressive place for
baseball fans to experience the game and has made possible the return of one of the classic
AAA franchises to it’s roots in Georgia.”

The ballpark, which has yet to be officially named, will be a state of the art facility that reflects a
historic look and feel.  It will provide an intimate setting with a total capacity of 10,000, and
ultimately serve as the focal point of a mixed-use entertainment district.

The groundbreaking ceremony brought together representatives from the Braves, Minor League
Baseball, MiLB’s International League, Gwinnett County Commission Chairman and District
Commissioners, architecture firm HKS, and construction management firm Barton Malow.

“This ballpark will be one impressive facility,” said Richard Tucker, Chairman of the Gwinnett
Convention and Visitors Bureau Board of Directors.  “Our architecture firm, HKS, has blended
the state of the art with a sense of history and nostalgia that will place this ballpark among the
best in the nation.  Barton Malow, our construction management firm, has a longstanding
reputation of turning such visions into reality.”

Further information on the ballpark’s progress will be available through the Gwinnett Braves
web site, gwinnettbraves.com.  Fans can also place a $100 deposit for season tickets through
the site or by calling 404-614-1300.
